HUNGERCOUNT
Hunger in Canada is a lot more common than you may think.
According to Statistics Canada, 1 in 7 Canadians are food insecure. But if we’re to change the statistics and the status quo, we must gain a better understanding as to who is impacted by hunger and why. That’s where HungerCount comes in.
Hunger snapshot
Age, background, personal circumstances, geography; our annual HungerCount report provides a deeper dive into the real people behind the statistics. With key insights representing a cross-section of most food bank agencies, organizations, and programs within (and outside of) the Food Banks Canada network, HungerCount offers a collective snapshot of food bank use in this country.
Nobody should be left hungry in the shadows
By equipping the food-bank network, academics, governments, and concerned citizens with key data, HungerCount aims to shine a light on the critical issue of food insecurity in Canada.
With this information, food banks nationwide can advocate to governments for change.
