AFTER THE BELL
The After the Bell Program addresses child hunger by delivering healthy, child-friendly food packs to school-aged children from coast to coast.
These packs are essential in filling the critical gap when school nutrition programs become unavailable, ensuring children have the necessary nutrition to fuel their bodies and minds during the summer months.
33% of those accessing food banks are children. When the school year is over and most in-school food programs have ended, the summer months can be a difficult time for families and children facing food insecurity.
Food Banks Canada’s annual After the Bell Program fills a critical gap by providing nutritious food back to children across the country.
In 2022 we reached 198 communities in every province & territory
In 2022 Food Banks Canada sourced, packed and distributed 175,000 child-friendly food packs
