AFTER THE BELL

The Subway® Never Miss Lunch program is Subway’s commitment to children in communities just like yours. Subway’s aim is to provide nutritious meals to kids in need during the summer break, when many community-based lunch programs end.

After the Bell food packs include high quality, nutritious food that is reviewed by a dietician each year. Thanks to our generous Fresh Food Partner, Subway Canada, food banks also receive a grant to add fresh fruits and vegetables to every pack before distribution, providing a well rounded and balanced food-pack, and ensuring children have all the essentials they need to fuel their bodies and minds.

With thousands of kid-friendly food packs destined for communities across Canada, Food Banks Canada couldn’t deliver the After the Bell program without engaging transportation and logistics partner like Emblem, Trucks for Change and Air Canada Cargo. 

Teamwork makes the dream work, and Food Banks Canada continues to work with partners like Air Canada Foundation and Air Canada Cargo that came together to support and deliver healthy food packs to children from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Their support continues to make an impact in children’s health and wellbeing in communities across the country.  

“Since June 2021, the Air Canada Foundation and Air Canada Cargo has supported Food Banks Canada and its After the Bell program. During the summer months, families who rely on school food programs often need a helping hand to bridge the gap. We are proud to support the program and also provide transportation support in the delivery of non-perishable food items to and from seven destinations across the country. In total, Food Banks Canada delivered 175,000 child-friendly food packs, including oatmeal, cereal, crackers, hummus, shelf-stable milk and fresh fruits and vegetables to nearly 200 communities coast to coast to coast.”
